Remainder Tasks Before Steam Early Access Release


Hello! This post isn't a release, I haven't quite added enough to justify a release yet. But soon.

I thought I'd share the remainder tasks before I intend to release it on Steam for Early Access.

There are only a few:

  • Reset the level state - when reached the end or restarted the game without exiting
  • Insert checkpoints that save progress - so you don't have to start the level over again when you die

And that's it, then I can push the big release button.

I'm currently quite busy with paid work, but it's finishing up soon (Mid December) so I should have more time after that.

Looking forward to releasing my first game to the public, on Steam!!

PS. There are still quite a few features I want to add after Steam release, like

  • Working multiplayer - Start and join games within the game (a lot of functionality exists in code, so not a lot of work hopefully)
  • Better in-game menus with text input - I'm thinking  this library
  • More single-player levels
  • New art - something drawn myself, by a friend, or if I have to, purchased art
  • Possibly new music - Can be tricky to find the right music
  • High score server - compare your score with others in-game
